Our Year 4 Teachers

In Year 4, your teachers Calum Wilson and Emily Turner

Your interveners are Lacey Geddes, Caroline Greg, William Crisp

They are excited about the learning you are doing in this year group.

Your project questions will be:

How did Pompeii affect the Romans?
Does reintroducing animals help or hinder the ecosystem?
How can the people of Bangladesh prevent flooding?

Learning Time

There will always be a visual timetable in the classroom.

This is what a day will usually look like:

8:45 – 9:00 Arrive in school and register
9:00 – 10:05- Mathematics
10:10 -10:30- Toilet break and Play time
10:35 – 11:45 – English
11:45 – 12:45- Dinner time
12:45 – 13:00- Register and mediation
13:00 – 13:30- Guided Reading
13:40 – 15:00- Project/RE/PSHE/French/Computing/PE
15:0 0- 15:30- Assemblies

Music

You will learn the ukulele this year. Music lessons are on Tuesday afternoon or a Friday morning. Both classes will alternate this every other week.

PE/Woodland/BFC

Wednesday afternoon and Thursday afternoon.
Some of these sessions will be changed to woodland, we will let you know in advance when this is happening.
The swimming pool is coming in October 2024

Library Visits

We will visit the library once a term.

Assemblies

Monday – R&G, SDGs & UNCRC & In The Media Monday (Picture News)
Tuesday – Picture Book
Wednesday – I Wonder Wednesday
Thursday – Lyfta
Friday – Celebration Assembly
Every week you will learn about a different country, artist, music genre and a poem.
Singing Assembly will be on Wednesday afternoon.

Playtime

You will play Playworks games with your friends. These will teach you how to take turns, follow rules, lose and win well and be part of a team.

Lunchtime

You will order your lunch in the morning or bring a packed lunch from home.
At lunchtime, you will wash your hands and then eat your lunch in the classroom.
There will be some time to play out, playing Playworks games.

Toilets

If you need the toilet, we will go during the morning break, before lunch and at around 2pm in the afternoon. If you desperately need the toilet at any other point of the day please let an adult In Year 3 know.

Trips, Visits & Celebrations

There will be a school trip linked to a project.
We will go and listen to the Halle Orchestra at the Bridgewater Hall in the Spring Term.
People may visit our class to help with our projects.
We will celebrate Christmas, Eid, Fathers’ Day, Mothers’ Day, World Book Day, Harvest, Easter, birthdays and lots of other events during the school year.
We will lead a whole school assembly about (event) on (date).

End of the day

There will always be a story at the end of every day.
At home time, your teachers will take you onto the playground to meet your parents. Please make sure your teacher knows who you are leaving with at the end of the day.
