Admissions Arrangements at Barrowford School

Thank you for considering Barrowford School for your child’s education. As a welcoming and inclusive school, we are dedicated to providing a supportive environment where every child is encouraged to achieve their full potential. We look forward to welcoming new families into our school community. Below is the information you need to apply for a place at Barrowford School.

September Admissions – Starting School

We understand that starting school is an important milestone, and we aim to make the process as straightforward and supportive as possible. Each year, we publish the details of how to apply for a Reception place for children starting school the following September. This information is available on our website throughout the year.

  • How to Apply: Applications are managed by Lancashire County Council. You can apply online at lancashire.gov.uk, or if you prefer, we can provide a paper application form at the school office—please feel free to contact us for one.
  • Places Available: Barrowford School has 60 places available in each year group, in line with our Published Admission Number (PAN).
  • If More Applications Are Received Than Places Available: If we receive more applications than we have places, Lancashire County Council will apply their oversubscription criteria to allocate places.

If you’re considering part-time options or would like to discuss delaying your child’s start, please contact us. We are happy to provide guidance and support to ensure the best possible start for your child.

In-Year Admissions

If your child needs a school place during the academic year or in a year group other than Reception, this is known as an in-year admission.

  • How to Apply: In-year admissions are also managed by Lancashire County Council. Please visit their website at lancashire.gov.uk for all the necessary information. If you need assistance, don’t hesitate to contact us—we are here to help.

Admission Appeals

If your application is unsuccessful, you have the right to appeal the decision.

  • How to Appeal: Admission appeals are managed by Lancashire County Council. All the relevant information, including key dates, can be found on their website at lancashire.gov.uk.

At Barrowford School, we are committed to ensuring a smooth and transparent admissions process. If you have any questions or would like further information about our school, please do not hesitate to get in touch. We are always happy to discuss our approach and what makes Barrowford such a special place for children to learn and grow.

We look forward to welcoming your family to Barrowford School!
