Admissions Arrangements at Barrowford School

September Admissions – Starting School

We understand that starting school is an important milestone, and we aim to make the process as straightforward and supportive as possible.

How to Apply

  • Applications for children starting school in Reception each September are managed by Lancashire County Council.
  • You can apply online at the Lancashire County Council Admissions website lancashire.gov.uk.
  • If you cannot access the online form, please contact the school office and we will provide a paper application form.

Places Available
Barrowford School has 60 places available in each year group, in line with our Published Admission Number (PAN).

Oversubscription
If more applications are received than places available, Lancashire County Council will apply their published oversubscription criteria when allocating places.

Appeals
If your application is unsuccessful, you have the right to appeal. Full details of the appeals process, including key dates and how to submit an appeal, can be found on the Lancashire County Council Appeals page.

In-Year Admissions

If your child needs a school place during the academic year, or in a year group other than Reception, this is known as an in-year admission.

How to Apply

  • In-year admissions for Barrowford School are managed by Lancashire County Council.
  • Parents and carers should complete the In-Year Application Form available on the Council’s website.
  • If your child requires a supplementary information form (SIF), this can also be downloaded from the same page or requested directly from the school.
  • Families without internet access can contact the school office to request a paper copy of the application form and process.

Notification Timelines
You will normally be informed of the outcome of your in-year application within 15 school days of it being received.

Appeals
