Our Year 3 Teachers

In Year 3, your teachers are Zoe Makin & Sam Butler

Your interveners are Lacey Geddes & Vanessa Whitehead

They are excited about the learning you are doing in this year group.

Your project questions will be:

Are explorers and invaders the same?
Were ancient people more environmentally friendly than us?
What qualities make a great scientist?

Learning Time

There will always be a visual timetable in the classroom.

Music

You will learn the cornet this year. Music lessons are on Tuesday.

PE/Woodland/BFC

Our PE session is on Monday.
Our Woodland session is Wednesday.
The swimming pool is coming in November 2025.

Library Visits

We will visit the library once a term.

Assemblies

Monday – R&G, SDGs & Picture News
Tuesday – Rights of the child & Picture Book
Wednesday – I Wonder Wednesday
Thursday – Lyfta
Friday – Celebration Assembly
Every week you will learn about a different country, artist, music genre and a poem.
Singing Assembly will be on Tuesday afternoon.

Playtime

You will play Playworks games with your friends. These will teach you how to take turns, follow rules, lose and win well and be part of a team.

Lunchtime

You will order your lunch in the morning or bring a packed lunch from home.
At lunchtime, you will wash your hands and then eat your lunch in the classroom.
There will be some time to play out, playing Playworks games.

Toilets

If you need the toilet, we will go during the morning break, before lunch and at around 2pm in the afternoon. If you desperately need the toilet at any other point of the day please let an adult In Year 3 know.

Trips, Visits & Celebrations

There will be a school trip linked to a project.
We will go and listen to the Halle Orchestra at the Bridgewater Hall in the Spring Term as well as attending Whitehough and Young Voices. In the Summer Term, will we attend a Wilderness Trip.
People may visit our class to help with our projects.
We will celebrate Christmas, Eid, Fathers’ Day, Mothers’ Day, World Book Day, Harvest, Easter, birthdays and lots of other events during the school year.
We will lead a whole school assembly about World Book Day on Thursday 5th March 2026.

End of the day

There will always be a story at the end of every day.
At hometime, your teachers will take you onto the playground to meet your parents. Please make sure your teacher knows who you are leaving with at the end of the day.
