Our Teachers 

In Year 1 and Year 2, your teachers are Sarah Green & Jade Bancroft

Your interveners are Kealan Storey

They are excited about the learning you are doing in EYFS and Year 1.

Your project questions will be:

  • What was life like for children in the 1800’s?
  • Soon there will be more plastic in the oceans than fish…how can we help?
  • Do we need bees to survive?

Learning Time

There will always be a visual timetable in the classroom.

This is what a day will usually look like:

  • 8:50am-9:05am – morning task/readers.
  • 9.05am – 9.15am- circle time and positive affirmations
  • 9:15am-10:15am- Maths or English.
  • 10:15am -10:40am – Phonics/Spelling.
  • 10:40am – 11:00am – Breaktime.
  • 11:00am – 12:00pm-Maths or English.
  • 12:00pm – 1:00pm – Lunchtime.
  • 1.00- 1.10pm- Muscle relaxation activities
  • 13:10pm – 13:30pm – Guided Reading.
  • 1:30pm – 2:30pm – Project/BFC/PE/Woodland.
  • 2:30pm – 2:50pm – Playtime.
  • 2:50pm – 3:10pm – Assembly.
  • 3:10pm -3:30pm- Storytime and then home time.

Music

You will learn the Ocarina this year and take part in Charanga lessons

PE/Woodland/BFC

  • Our PE session is on a Monday Our Woodland session is on a Tuesday.
  • The swimming pool is coming in October 2024.

Library Visits

We will visit the library on a Monday afternoon once a half term.

Assemblies

  • Monday:  R&G, SDGs & UNCRC
  • Tuesday: Picture Book
  • Wednesday: Picture News
  • Thursday: Lyfta
  • Friday: Celebration Assembly
  • Every week you will learn about a different country, artist, music genre and a poem.
  • Singing Assembly will be on Wednesday afternoon.

Playtime

You will play Playworks games with your friends. These will teach you how to take turns, follow rules, lose and win well and be part of a team.

Lunchtime

  • You will order your lunch in the morning or bring a packed lunch from home.
  • At lunchtime, you will wash your hands and then eat your lunch in the classroom.
  • There will be some time to play out, playing Playworks games.

Toilets

If you need the toilet, ask the teacher at a convenient time…

Trips, Visits & Celebrations

  • There will be a school trip linked to a project.
  • We will go and listen to the Halle Orchestra at the Bridgewater Hall in the Spring Term.
  • People may visit our class to help with our projects.
  • We will celebrate Christmas, Eid, Fathers’ Day, Mothers’ Day, World Book Day, Harvest, Easter, birthdays and lots of other events during the school year.

End of the day 

  • There will always be a story at the end of every day.
  • At the end of the day, your teachers will take you to the Year 2 entrance of the bottom building. Please make sure your teacher knows who you are leaving with at the end of the day.

Home Learning & Reading Books

  • You will be set home learning once a week. It will be on Seesaw. We would love to see anything you do so please feel free to send in/ upload photos to Seesaw.
  • Your reading books will be changed weekly. Please bring everyday.
  • Please feel free to catch one of the members of staff if you have any queries or concerns. We are always here to help and listen.
